Zero views on Threads: shadowban causes and how to get reach back

Six reasons nobody sees your Threads posts, a five-minute check and a recovery plan for the account.

In short: when Threads posts that used to get views suddenly sit at zero, the cause is almost always one of six things: the account is restricted, the proxy is poor or in the wrong country, the account was warmed up too little or too hard, the profile is empty and follows no one, the content breaks the rules or falls outside recommendations, or everything started on the same day. First check «Account status» in the Threads settings and the account status in Thredium, then the proxy, then warmup and content. Below are a five-minute check and a plan to get reach back.

What people call a shadowban on Threads

«Shadowban» is not an official term, and Meta does not use it. Meta says a post or an account may not be recommended to people who don't follow you. The post is not deleted: your followers see it, but it does not appear in «For you» or in search. For an account with few followers, that looks exactly like zero views.

The usual signs:

  • new posts get 0–5 views where they used to get noticeably more;
  • your replies under other people's posts are hidden from others or pushed to the end;
  • the account cannot be found by name from another account;
  • views dropped at once on every account that shares one proxy.

One weak post proves nothing: Threads posts perform differently without any restriction. Look at a series of posts over several days.

A five-minute check

  1. «Account status» in Threads. The Threads settings have an «Account status» section. It shows whether posts were removed, whether reach was limited and whether the account can be recommended to people who don't follow it. If it lists a violation you disagree with, you can request a review there.
  2. The status in Thredium. In «Accounts» the status should be «Active». «Needs verification» and «Auth error» mean Threads wants a check: sign in again, manually if needed — see «Signing in to Threads accounts and their statuses».
  3. The proxy. In «Proxies», look at the status, the country and how many accounts sit on the proxy. A proxy marked «Unstable» is one where most accounts got a ban or a checkpoint in the last 7 days.
  4. A look from outside. Open the profile in a browser where you are not signed in to Threads, or from another account. If the profile and fresh posts are visible, the account is not hidden completely, and the problem is more likely reach than a block.
  5. Task logs. Thredium's «Task logs» show what the account did in recent days: how many likes, follows, comments and posts, and whether there were errors and checkpoints. A sudden jump in activity right before views dropped is a common cause.

If the profile is linked to Instagram, check «Account status» there too: restrictions on one Meta account can affect the other.

Cause 1. The account itself

  • A new account with no history. It has no followers and no behaviour that tells Threads whom to show it to. Almost nobody sees a new account's first posts — that is not a ban yet.
  • A bought account. You don't know its history: it may have been used for spam, and the restriction may have come with it. After buying, first give it its own proxy, sign in and check «Account status» — see «Buy Threads accounts with 2FA».
  • An account after a checkpoint. If Threads asked to confirm the login and the account went straight back to posting at the old pace, that looks suspicious. After confirming, give it several days of calm activity.

Cause 2. The proxy: type, load and country

The proxy is the most common cause when several accounts drop to zero at once.

  • Datacenter proxies. Social networks treat datacenter IPs with suspicion. Residential and mobile proxies suit Threads better.
  • Many accounts on one IP. If ten accounts share a proxy and one of them is restricted, all of them come under suspicion. Keep 1–2 accounts per proxy.
  • The wrong country. An account that signed in from one country yesterday and from another today is often asked to confirm the login. Pick a proxy in the country where the account was registered and where your audience is, and don't change the country without a reason. The country of each proxy is shown in the «Proxies» table, which also has a country filter.
  • An unsupported region. If the check in Thredium says «RTL region is not supported», the proxy exits through a country with right-to-left script. Replace such a proxy.
  • An «Unstable» proxy. If a series of bans started on a proxy, replace it and move its accounts to others with the «Distribute» button. More in «Proxies for Threads accounts».

Cause 3. Too little or too much warmup

Too little — an account starts posting right after registration or purchase. To Threads it is an empty account with no behaviour that suddenly publishes. Such an account is often shown to nobody but its followers, and it has none yet.

Too much — the opposite mistake: «to go faster», the account likes almost every post in a session, follows dozens of people and comments one post after another. That looks more like a bot than an empty account does.

The ranges Thredium highlights:

ActionSafeRed mark
Likesup to 30% of postsfrom 75%
Followsup to 10%from 25%
Commentsup to 5%from 15%

Start with the feed and likes, add follows and comments one at a time, and leave posting and profile changes for last. For a new account, run 2–3 warmup sessions of 20–60 minutes before you turn on posting. The full plan is in «How to warm up a Threads account».

Cause 4. An empty profile and an empty feed

An account with no photo, no bio, following nobody and never having opened posts on its topic looks disposable. And Threads cannot tell whom to show it to.

What to do:

  • Fill in the profile: name, photo, a short bio on the topic, a link. The «Profile design» module changes these fields on many accounts at once — see «Profile design».
  • Follow people in your niche. Turn on follows in warmup — up to 10% of posts.
  • Browse your topics. In warmup, turn on «Use interest topics» and list the topics separated by commas: the account searches for them on Threads and scrolls the posts it finds, and the feed gradually shifts towards your niche. One session takes up to 4 topics — see «Warmup».
  • One topic per account. An account about coffee is easier to follow than an account about everything.

Cause 5. Content

  • Rule violations. Posts that break Meta's community guidelines are removed, and an account with violations may stop being recommended. «Account status» shows what exactly was violated.
  • Topics that are not recommended. Some content stays on the platform but is not shown to people who don't follow you. For example, Meta announced that by default it does not recommend political content from accounts people don't follow. If an account grows through recommendations, such topics hold it back.
  • The same text from many accounts. One post from ten accounts looks like spam. Write variants in braces, for example {Tip of the day|Quick tip}, and give the accounts different photos — see «Threads auto-posting».
  • Nothing but ads. An account where every post says «buy» is rarely read and rarely recommended. Mix useful posts with offers.

Cause 6. Everything on one day

A new name, a new photo, twenty follows, a post, comments under other people's posts — all on the first day after signing in from a new proxy. Each action is normal on its own, but together they look like a hijacked account or a bot. Spread the changes over several days and don't run warmup and posting on the same account at the same time.

What to do when views are already at zero

  1. Stop posting from this account for a few days. Hardly anyone sees new posts in the meantime anyway.
  2. Check «Account status». If it shows a violation, delete the disputed posts; if you disagree, request a review.
  3. Sort out the proxy. One account per proxy (two at most), residential or mobile, in the account's country. Replace an «Unstable» proxy.
  4. Sign the account in again if its status is not «Active».
  5. Go back to warmup: short sessions with the feed and likes on your topics, without follows and comments for the first days.
  6. Finish the profile: photo, bio, follows of people in your niche.
  7. Return to posting slowly: one post a day with a unique text, then watch the views. When reach comes back, raise the pace gradually.
  8. If nothing helps, the account may be restricted for a long time. Then it is wiser to run the niche from another, warmed-up account than to wait.

To learn about problems right away rather than from zeros in the statistics, turn on Telegram notifications in Thredium — at least «Critical errors» and «Account bans».

How not to end up at zero again

  • one proxy per 1–2 accounts, proxy country = account country;
  • warmup before any noticeable activity, especially for new and bought accounts;
  • a filled-in profile, follows and interest topics in warmup;
  • different texts and photos from different accounts;
  • action shares in the green zone, one change per day;
  • once a week, a look at «Task logs» and «Account status».

FAQ

Is there a shadowban on Threads?

Officially there is no such term. Meta says posts or an account may not be recommended to people who don't follow you. For a small account that looks like zero views, although the posts are not deleted.

Where can I see whether an account is restricted?

In the Threads settings, the «Account status» section. It shows removed posts, reach limits and whether the account can be recommended. You can also request a review there.

How long does a shadowban last?

There is no official timeframe. A restriction for a violation is lifted when a review decides in your favour or the violation expires. If the cause is the proxy, warmup or an empty profile, reach comes back after you fix it and the account behaves calmly for a while.

Why do several accounts get zero views at once?

Most often they share a proxy or post the same texts. Check how many accounts sit on each proxy and whether any proxies are marked «Unstable».

Will buying views help?

Buying views does not lift restrictions. If an account is not recommended, bought views will not put it back into «For you». Fix the cause first, and use promotion for good posts on a healthy account — see «Threads promotion».

Should I delete the account and create a new one?

Not right away. Check «Account status», the proxy and warmup first. A new account on the same proxy with the same behaviour will quickly end up in the same place.
